About

Blackbird Art and Farm is a lifelong dream of owner Melissa Frank-Williams, where she lives with her partner, teenage son, and a whole bunch of chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats. It is a magical two-acre homestead on one-time Arapahoe, Ute, and Cheyenne land in Boulder County, Colorado with amazing mountain views, gardens, a greenhouse, and studio spaces to create. At Blackbird, Melissa hosts creative workshops, retreats, pop-up stores, and is on the Boulder County Open Studios Tour. In 2024, she will have overnight stays available at the farm.

Melissa makes all of the artwork featured at Blackbird Art and Farm and largely uses found objects and recycled materials. She enjoys regularly "making the rounds", as she calls it, in Boulder County where she collects recycled building materials, art supplies, and furniture to be the foundation of her next pieces. The stars of her work are the flora, fauna, and landscape of Colorado. Her paintings and furniture pieces often tell a story and may include collaged papers  printed by her from hand-carved stamps, or rusty metal bits, or dried plants from a hike or the land on which she lives.
